At Olive Acre Hens, we breed some very special & rare breeds and focus on egg colour and hardy birds (that don’t struggle through a north UK winter!) The time and effort it takes to match the right hens to the right cockerel after waiting up to a year to be able to breed them, means every egg I set is extremely special cargo! We have always used the Brinsea Maxi 24 EX but with more and more people wanting to expand their flocks with our beautiful rainbow eggs & hens, a bigger incubator was desperately needed so when the brand new Ovation 56 EX Connect became available, I jumped at the chance to try it!

As always, the Brinsea customer service was excellent- something that really matters to me as it’s always great to have someone on hand if you need them. The 56 EX connect was easy to set up and connect to the app and being able to change your settings whenever or wherever you are is extremely useful. The app is very simple and straight to the point, allowing peace of mind for when you’re out and about. Automatic humidity and turning controls are a must for me as with many other hens and animals to look after on our smallholding, I doubt I’d have time to turn 56 eggs manually!
All in all, a fantastic incubator with a wonderful app which really is a game changer in the incubation world. I’d recommend Brinsea to anyone wanting to start up hatching their own birds.
