Well packaged doing first lot of eggs
After owning the mini eco for a year and seeing how wonderful it was, I thought I’d upgrade to the 28 ovation to increase the number of eggs. I set it ready for the next day, collected my duck eggs over 2 weeks so I had 28. When I went to put them in, I noticed that I could only get 24 in (6 per tray). No worries 24 is ample. Set to turn every 45 minutes only to realise they were too heavy for the motor to turn!! After sitting for nearly an hour changing the interval settings I’ve concluded that it will only work for a maximum of 20 duck eggs. The other annoying part about this model is that you don’t have an external outlet for the water like you do for mini so have to lift the large lid off to top up water. Let’s hope the temperature and hatch rate are successful!! See you in 28 days time.
I purchased a brinsea eco 28 . It works very well keeps temp turns ect no problems . I was surprised it does not have a humidity control on such an updated machine . I just took this for granted. Temp and humidity being the main two control of an incubator . Never the less still the best by far .
I decided to try a brinsea to see if I could improve my hatch rates. This model is so easy to set up and use, automatically turning the eggs so there’s little to do until lockdown. I’d recommend it and wish I bought Brinsea to begin with, it’s true what they say - you get what you pay for!
I was given the ovation 28 eco by a family member and I absolutely love it. The equipment came well packed and protected. The instructions for the incubator were step by step through the incubation/ hatching process and we’re really useful. So easy and my hatch rates have been great. Will deffo be buying more brinsea products
I love it. having a number of smaller incubators and getting about a 50% hatch rate, I tried this with 23 eggs - nothing expensive, just in case - and we had 22 hatch all on the same day! Amazing. I now have 12 Buff Orpingtons in and am hoping for a similar result. Its quiet and easy to assemble. Negatives are that it was tricky to take apart to clean, a couple of the screws were difficult to remove - maybe it could come with a perfect fitting screwdriver for those who have not got large a range of tools? Also, you really have to remove a row of eggs to fill the water trough up. Anyway, that's my review. A very happy customer. Would definitely recommend it. NOTE FROM BRINSEA: You don't have to remove a row of eggs to fill the water trough, as you can see the water filling the channel.
Excellent product. Temperature control, eggs automatic turning and being able to see the little ones when hatched. Would recommend this product.
We've only used this incubator once so far but had a good hatch and found it so easy to use. Pretty much plylug it in and go. It was easy to see them hatching and the kids (and the wife and me) found it fascinating as they broke out of their shells. Only criticism is that between the two layer of clear plastic on the top it is hard to clean. Ours has barely cooled down before being full of duck eggs, looking forward to that now!
The ovation 28 eco is brilliant for hatching smaller quantities of eggs,it is so easy to use and the instructions are so easy to understand ( unlike some) , I keep large Brahma and the hatching results are great, have recommended this product to several of my friends who have purchased this incubator and they are as delighted with it as I am. There are many much cheaper foreign imports available online but take it from me they aren’t a patch on the ovation
I bought this on a friends recommendation. Comes with a 3 year gtee, spares are readily available if needed. i have had excellent hatches, and find it easy to use.
Bought the Ovation Eco a couple of years ago after my dear old Octagon 20 finally gave up. I've enjoyed several successful hatches of duck and hen eggs. The bator is easy to set up, is very stable and has has excellent visibility. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I needed to take the lid apart to be able to clean it sufficiently. I found this to be quite fiddly and time consuming but it is the only negative point.
I really wanted a Ovation 28 Eco Incubator for ages. I finally decided to purchase one. Love the Incubator. Had to use You Tube to set it up and it was very helpful and clear instructions. Found it easy to use. Love that I can see through the clear cover as I eagerly await the eggs to hatch.
Great inci. Easy to work and maintain. Lovely hatch rate.
I was given this incubator for my Christmas and it is a gift that has given me great pleasure ever since. I have had reliable hatching of ducklings and chickens. I found the settings easy to change and the motor is really steady. It is easy to clean. I did have issues with the fan not running properly and Brinsea sent a replacement first class post. It was very easy to replace and has worked perfectly since.
I have had this incubator for 18 months now and I have successfully hatched many chicken, guinea fowl and duck eggs with ease. Sometimes I would like to know the humidity and I wish I would have spent the extra money for the Advanced model. Overall, the product is easy to use and to setup. My only complaint would be with the iron screws that are beginning to rust, it would be nice if they used stainless steel instead. Also, it is a hassle to remove all the screws in order to clean it properly. I am always concerned that I will strip the screw heads or over-tighten the screws and crack the plastic housing. The system works though, and I highly recommend this easy and affordable product.
Purchased my new incubator ,it is so easy to use ,have had great hatching success with my large Brahma eggs between 95and100 % hatch rate, its very easy to clean out and sterilise between hatches, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this incubator in fact a friend has just purchased one and is equally as pleased as myself, must also say the customer support is great
Like I am sure many people who are to having chickens and hatching eggs. I made my first mistake by buying a cheap incubator on an auction site. It held 96 eggs which cost me quite a lot. After 18 days it turned off and I lost the lot. I invested in the Ovation 28 Eco Incubator put in 28 eggs and hatched the lot. I was so happy as I had put in extra eggs. It is easy to clean and sturdy. I could have bought this the first and saved all the upset of loosing so many chicks. This incubator is great.
Already have one Brinsea incubator, bought this as the only option locally when my second incubator failed just before I put the eggs in. Having had poor hatches with the other Brinsea I put 3 incubator thermometers in this one and had to up the temperature on the Binsea to 85.4 to get the required temperature on the other thermometers. I did get 8 out of 24 hatched which was OK. 3 from 12 in the other incubator but that was due to clear eggs. The new incubator turns the eggs OK, humidity is not too difficult to keep at the required level manually and it is easy to clean.
Have used it twice and liked it. A few of the chickens have splayed legs. What am I doing wrong or what is the cause of this. Any ideas? Hello - thank you for leaving your review - Splayed legs can be down to nutritional issues with parent birds, temperature not being perfect or chicks spending too long on a slippery surface. The Ovations have a floor surface that chicks can generally grip but it's worth taking the chicks out as soon as possible (without disturbing the hatch too frequently) so that they can stand up fully. It might be useful to fill in our incubation questionnaire as that can help find where improvements can be made. If the hatch was later or earlier than expected that can point to temperature needing adjustment for instance. if you drop us an email: sales@brinsea.co.uk we can give you some more help with this.
