Based on the popular Maxi 48 EX, Brinsea worked closely with parrot breeding experts to improve key features of the Zoologica model to suit exotic birds' eggs. Many of these eggs are tiny and fragile, so Brinsea introduced a new egg quadrant accommodating 108 of the smallest size eggs in the incubator. The egg turning is slowed and incorporates soft-start to provide the gentlest turning. The control software has also been updated to improve the user experience. Brinsea's Maxi 48 Zoologica is purpose-designed for the incubation of parrots' and other exotic birds' eggs to ensure the highest hatch rates over and over again.
Designed by Brinsea with input from expert parrot breeders, the Maxi 48 Zoologica provides the extremely close automatic control of temperature and humidity of the Maxi 48 EX, with egg handling to suit the smallest and most fragile eggs. The Maxi 48 Zoologica includes a set of four egg quadrants which accommodate 108 of the smallest finch or lovebird eggs, along with three sets of quadrants for larger eggs such as cockatiel, cockatoo, eclectus, African grey, and Amazon parrots. These quadrants can be mixed and matched to allow eggs of different sizes to be set at the same time.
Uniquely, the Maxi 48 Zoologica has a reduced turning speed and soft-start function so that delicate eggs are turned gently but reliably. The software interface has also been updated to be more user-friendly. With great visibility of the hatching eggs and the convenience of an integral water pump and integral automatic humidity control, it takes the guesswork out of incubation. Brinsea's patented alarms warn of incubation and room temperature fluctuations, and the Maxi 48 Zoologica also has a power failure indicator. It is protected by Biomaster antimicrobial additives, proven to reduce bacterial growth by up to 99.99% and is 100% safe for eggs, chicks, and humans. Only Brinsea use Biomaster treated plastics in egg incubators which cut the risk of egg contamination and increase hatch rates.
