OXYGEN USEAGE: If you require an ICU with oxygen compatibility please visit our specialist Vetario website. The elevated oxygen levels which can be so beneficial to patients' therapy also introduces the hazard of much easier combustion. This means that the higher oxygen levels in an intensive care unit can lead to fire much more readily than in normal atmospheres. The Vetario T40M and T50M have been designed to control these risks and for additional reassurance they have been independently tested by BSI for product safety to the Animal and Medical Incubator standards. The Vetario T40M and T50M models conform to the oxygen fire safety clauses of the current EN 60601-1:2006 + corrigenda 2006 & 2007 standard.
The TLC Advance Series II is a multi-purpose small animal Intensive Care Unit/bird brooder, providing the warmth and isolation essential for the critical care needs for a variety of young, sick, injured or weak animals and birds. With an effective volume of 100 litres, it can accommodate a rabbit, hedgehog, kitten or small puppy for example. Brinsea's TLC intensive care units are used by wildlife rescue centres, conservation projects, breeders and individual rehabilitators worldwide.
Control system: With accurate and calibrated digital temperature control, the TLC-50 Advance Series II gives the user precise and accurate temperature control that can be adjusted at the push of a button. The digital control system shows temperature in either °C or °F and includes dual adjustable alarms to warn of variations of temperature inside and outside the cabinet beyond user-set thresholds. Simply alter the temperature in 0.1°C increments by using the digital controls to adjust between room temperature and 38°C. The digital controller guards against accidental temperature adjustment.
Airflow: Airflow in the TLC-50 Advance Series II has been carefully optimised to ensure consistent distribution of heat, so that all animals are at the same temperature but with the fan maintaining gentle air speeds with positive pressure so that down, fluff and dust are not blown around. The Advance model features variable fan speed for particularly stress-sensitive animals. A twin stage air filter ensures that harmful bacteria and fungal spores are effortlessly removed from the brooding chamber; air is gently circulated by an internal fan in a way that minimises airborne dust.
Humidity: Warm air can result in dehydration so the TLC-50 Advance has a water reservoir over which air is circulated to increase humidity within the chamber. The water reservoir is filled from outside the unit and is clear, allowing the user to monitor the water level. The Series II models can reach higher humidity levels and an adjustable vent is fitted to the door which may be opened or closed to give greater control of humidity and fresh air flow. The Advance model also features a digital humidity display to enable the user to monitor humidity more effectively.
This model features a nebuliser solution holder which allows medication to be conveniently administered to the patient when connected to your nebuliser pump. Observation of patients is aided by a switchable internal light which safely illuminates the chamber interior.
Cleaning: With hygiene a top priority, the TLC-50 Advance Series II has been carefully designed to make cleaning as easy as possible. The smooth, easy-to-clean interior has no vulnerable edges for animals to chew. The whole unit can be easily disassembled for easy and effective cleaning.

Protected by Polygiene Biomaster Antimicrobial Additive: To reduce the risk of infection Polygiene Brinsea incorporate Biomaster Antimicrobial Protection into our incubator cabinets during manufacture. Polygiene Biomaster Protection is embedded within the plastic itself which prevents the growth of harmful bacteria helping to provide the optimum environment for young animals. Proven to quickly reduce bacterial growth by up to 99.99%
Disinfecting tip: Please make sure that disinfectant is thoroughly rinsed off plastic parts after cleaning and avoid alcohol based solutions to avoid gradual embrittlement of plastic parts.
We have come across a small number of instances of plastic parts of the TLC units becoming degraded, brittle and breaking – particularly around the screws on the door hinges) due to the action of some disinfectants. To avoid this please don't use disinfectants containing alcohol and take care that all traces of disinfectants or cleaning agents are rinsed away with water after cleaning, especially around the hinge screws.
Filling the water reservoir: Your TLC-50 Advance is fitted with a water reservoir which humidifies air as it is drawn into the heater enclosure. Use a solution of Brinsea Incubation Disinfectant (1 part concentrate to 100 parts water) in the water reservoir (pan) to inhibit bacterial build-up. It is recommended that the reservoir is topped up with solution daily to reduce dehydration. The evaporating block and filters can be carefully washed by hand but they do need changing regularly.
PLEASE NOTE: The low room temperature alarm may be triggered at approximately 15°C to provide early warning of compromised performance.

Great product, I use it as a brooder for my macaw chicks having hatched them in my Brinsea incubator. Easy to set up and use, and backed up by great customer service. Thoroughly recommended.
This incubator has been invaluable. Has saved many poorly hedgehogs. Easy to use & clean. Definitely a must have for every wildlife rescue.
I am a rescue which is in touch with many other rescues who have purchased this very valuable piece of equipment. Each rescue has said that with the Brinsea it has made theirs and the animals life so much easier and given more successes with injured and sick animals pulling them back from the brink of death. Keeping young babies at the right temprature as they mature and grow.... They say without a Brinsea your not a rescue, every rescue should have one of these fantastic pieces of equipment which aids to save so many young baby animals and adults. This piece of equipment is a must for any rescue.
Wonderfull product . A lot of my fellow rescuers use this and have had many successes because of this product. Invaluable piece of equipment for any rescue or breeder.
Amazing large brooder, suits smaller species as well as larger ones and/or litter. Easy to clean and very easy to maintain running. Wouldn't want it any different!
I could write a long review but there's no need. I cannot imagine rescuing without Brinsea incubators by my side. A lovely caring family company with top quality products that help make rehabilitating poorly hedgehogs and others so much easier. These are life savers!
Starting a hedgehog Rescue I decided I wanted to start as I meant to go on and give the hedgehogs the best care I could, I ordered two of the TLC 50 Advance incubator’s, having been recommended by other rescues. I have not been disappointed, they have proven to be worth their weight in gold and totally worth every penny. Hedgehogs often come in very poorly, cold and in shock, requiring fluids and warmth, two of the most important things. The fluids are given by injection and then it’s straight into the incubator. It’s easy to set the temperature, with the controls being very easy to understand, I have used both incubators for very small autumn Juvenile hedgehogs to very large hedgehogs who have been admitted over the winter who have needed to be warmed gently but consitantly. At first I was a bit scared to use them, however as I have grown in my own confidence it’s my go to whenever there is a new admission. Soon it will be hoglet season and I can honestly say I know these incubators will prove invaluable, as hoglets need the temperature to be consitant and quite warm between 30c and 34c. The incubator is spacious, easy to use, easy to clean, I wouldn’t be without mine and I am thinking of getting a third, possibly the portable too. Customer service is excellent. Highly recommended. Wixams Hedgehog Support.
This product is robust yet simplistic and easy-to-use in design, and has proved a valuable asset to hospitalising recovering as well as critically ill exotics patients. As a vet with a heavy exotics caseload, I wouldn't be without one.
With more than 145 years of caring for animals in Guernsey, the GSPCA is growing to meet the demands of the modern world with enthusiasm, optimism and energy. The role now, as in those early days, of preventing cruelty and promoting kindness to animals, through education, is as strong as ever. So much is achieved - through qualified and dedicated staff, our own welfare officer, friends and supporters throughout the island and through our association with the other animal welfare organisations around the world. We are completely funded through the generosity of the local community and without donations, monthly giving, legacies and our members we wouldn't be able to help the 1000's of animals every year that come through our doors. In 2016 we were awarded Guernsey Community Foundation Charity of the Year and in 2017 at the Ceva Animal Welfare Awards we were bestowed a Special International Animal Welfare Award. With over 2000 sick and injured wild animals through the doors at the GSPCA every year, life saving equipment is in high demand at the GSPCA and we are incredibly fortunate to have a number of Brinsea TLC-40 ADV 230V Thermal Life-support Cabinets and the TLC-50 ADV 230V Thermal Life-support Cabinets. At the Guernsey SPCA we cannot speak highly enough of the Brinsea TLC-40 and TLC-50 ADV 230V Thermal Life-support Cabinets. We see the life saving results these units can make in saving sick and injured animals as well as their fabulous and incredible use in helping appropriately house in an intensive care environment young animals from birds to kittens, puppies to hoglets and many others on a daily basis. Our first purchase of these units at the GSPCA was in 2011 and since then they have been used 24/7 with phenomenal results. Many of our Thermal Life-support Cabinets at the GSPCA have been on day and night since their purchase over 7 years ago without any issues or faults which show cases their longevity and robust design. The bulk of the species are sick, injured and baby birds often found cold, wet and close to death and these wonderful units help provide a temperature and environment that can really help save their life. During the Spring and Summer our Thermal Life-support Cabinets are full with baby birds and hoglets being hand reared and many of the 1500 injured birds that arrive each year will be housed in these units on arrival to warm them up and stabilise them. From oiled birds found on the Guernsey coastline to injured birds of prey, hundreds of hedgehogs covered in fleas and ticks every year to young animals needing hand rearing the TLC-40 and TLC-50 ADV 230V Thermal Life-support Cabinets are easy to clean and maintain and Brinsea are a fantastic company and we are so grateful for their quality range of equipment they produce and superb customer service. The GSPCA being the only all animal welfare organisation in Guernsey means that day and night we help animals in need and support our community and the TLC-40 and TLC-50 ADV 230V Thermal Life-support Cabinets are integral to our work to help care for those animals saved often in extreme and ill health and to have this equipment in our hospital areas means every year hundreds of animals are rehabilitated and lives saved that would likely perish without it.
After purchasing a TLC-50 Advance Intensive Care Unit, we can honestly say it has been a lifesaver. It’s an invaluable piece of kit and enhances the care that our hedgehog rescue can provide. It is reassuring to be able to leave the hard work to the incubator to maintain a constant heat source to aid in the recovery of the poorly wild hedgehogs that are admitted to the hospital. It allows for higher temperatures to be maintained for the smallest of orphaned hoglets who are unable to self-regulate their body temperatures, to larger adult hogs who need thermal support whilst fighting infections from illness or injury. It is therefore a piece of equipment that is in constant use throughout the year. It’s a great design, easy to assemble and the transparent door allows you to keep an eye on the patient inside without having to open the door and let the heat escape. The internal size of the TLC-50 is perfect, allowing enough space for bedding, food and water to be kept separate. The controls at the front are easy to use and allow for a quick change of settings as required. As hedgehogs are nocturnal creatures and we are often carrying out late night checks, the internal light at the top of the incubator is great for checking on the casualty inside without having to disturb the other patients in the hospital by turning on the lights, which helps to reduce stress for all the hedgehogs receiving care in the rescue – a win win all round! The unit is easy to clean and disinfect and maintain a sterile environment to reduce any cross contamination between patients and also to minimise zoonotic risks, making it a great isolation unit too. A multi-functional piece of kit we could never be without now and vital to our work in trying to reverse the decline of our iconic wild hedgehogs. Thank you Brinsea – you have a great product and great customer service.
I used this for one of my Bantam chicks which was struggling. Within days I seen a massive improvement. So it was a blessing in times of worry. With this you can rest assure you small chick are in the best recovery place.
The Brinsea TLC Incubators are vital to our work saving British wildlife. They make such a difference to the care we can provide orphaned and poorly animals. We use them all year round for a wide array of species - from tiny hatchling birds & poorly hedgehogs to bats and even fawns! We have never had any issues with our Brinsea incubators; they are easy to use, easy to clean and they have helped us save many lives.
Here at Willows Hedgehog Rescue we admit and treat many hundreds of injured, ill and orphaned hedgehogs each year. The Brinsea TLC Incubators in the main hospital area are a vital tool in the hospitals facilities to help save very ill and orphaned hedgehogs. The very busy time for the incubators here at Willows are the late spring and summer months when orphaned and abandoned hoglet litters start to be admitted. Hoglets can be admitted from as young as just minutes old and we also have litters of premature hoglets admitted. The three Brinsea incubators in use at Willows Hedgehog Rescue provide a lifesaving facility for hoglets with the incubators running constantly housing many litters of hoglets over the spring and summer months. Hoglets that without the incubators would not be able to survive.
Adelaide Bat Care - I love this ICU to bits! They are fantastic for our little injured Microbats because it allows temperatures to be maintained at a temperature for the Microbats to recover without going into torpor, which they do easily especially during the day time. It provides the humidity that they require which once again is so important for their recovery from especially cat attacks! Many Bat Carers not never do without one. It has been the greatest asset to help the Microbats in the initial emergency care that they require when they first come into care, plus an absolute ‘must’ for newborn Microbat babies (pups).
